In memory of

Kenneth Walter Preston

September 17, 1924 -  October 16, 2017

Ken passed away peacefully at the Sunnybrook Veterans Centre October 16, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband of Betty, proud father of Stuart (Brenda Petherick), David, Elizabeth (Michael Fitzhenry), Papa to Kayli and Tal Preston, Duncan, Griffin, and Reagan Fitzhenry, uncle to Nancy and John Preston in Ottawa. Predeceased by two elder brothers, Ross and Stuart.
Ken graduated from Queen's University in chemical engineering, and began his career in Welland with Union Carbide, later moving to the Toronto head office and a subsequent posting to Asia. His career also included Kellogg’s Canada and the Workmen's Compensation Appeals Board Tribunal. Active in the business community, he was a past president of the Personnel Association of Toronto.
Ken enjoyed an active lifestyle skiing, curling, and biking with Betty and friends. Family holidays included visits to India, Africa, and Asia. When relaxing at home he enjoyed weekly bridge with the boys and a good cigar. He took immense pride and pleasure in having his grandchildren at the family cottage on Georgian Bay, which he built and continued to "fix-up" over many years.

Ken, you welcomed me with open arms as a young man to your cottage on Georgian Bay so many times I can't remember. Thank you for tolerating my shenanigans. You were a tireless work horse doing things around the cottage from the moment I showed up to the time I left but you always managed to find time at the end of the day to enjoy a relaxing drink with your son's friends. I hope the pearly gates are are in good shape cuz I suspect you'll want to fix them before I get there. Rest in Peace
