In memory of

Ken Macdonald

September 12, 1947 -  October 13, 2017

Kenneth Robert Bruce Macdonald died peacefully at home in Toronto on October 13, 2017, with his beloved wife Wendy (née Alloway), of 35 years, and sons Fraser and Matthew by his side.

Son of the late Major General Bruce Macdonald and Lois Macdonald, he is survived by his siblings John Macdonald (Susan Greer), Terri Alloway (Miller), James Macdonald (April Taggart), and his cherished nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Ken was born in Toronto on September 12, 1947, and lived across North America during his father’s army service before once again calling Toronto home for the last 30 years. His early years of travel blossomed into a desire to explore the world at every opportunity, first as a young man and then with his family.

During his 30 year career at CIBC, he held many diverse positions and became known as an expert in business continuity management.

Ken lived out his deep Christian faith in every aspect of his life, both in his career and his service to others. He served at Wycliffe College (University of Toronto), Toronto City Mission, his church community, and numerous other ministries with his whole heart.

A friend to everyone with whom he crossed paths, Ken always had time for conversation and listening. His gentle, compassionate and gracious spirit was apparent to all. In addition to his many accomplishments and a life of service, he will be remembered for his warmth and his sparkling smile.

The family will receive friends at the MT PLEASANT FUNERAL CENTRE (375 Mount Pleasant Road, Toronto) from 5pm to 8pm on Wednesday, October 18. The funeral service will be at LITTLE TRINITY ANGLICAN CHURCH (425 King St E, Toronto) on Thursday, October 19 at 11am, with a reception nearby to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Toronto City Mission.

Wendy, Fraser, Matthew - I was so sad to hear of Ken's death over the weekend. I know he is with his Heavenly Father who he loved and served, but I know his absence will leave a huge hole in your hearts and family.
I may not be able to get to the service but please know I am and will be praying for you.
Ken was such a dear person - someone I admired. His service to the church and his desire to follow God were so genuine and came from deep within.
I will always be grateful to him (& you, Wendy), for the encouragement and generosity shown to me when I went through some life challenges.
God bless you and keep you close to His heart.

Dear Wendy and all the family, I was shocked to hear of Ken's passing, as I had not known of his sickness. My prayers are with you all. May our Resurrection Hope in Jesus strengthen and comfort you as you grieve the loss of dear Ken.
With loving sympathy, Sandra

I had the privilege of meeting Ken a couple of times. My thoughts and prayers to Matty and his family as they remember and celebrate Ken's life.

We knew Ken for such a brief time after we joined CBS, but it was long enough to see what a wonderful person he was. So dedicated to his family, to God's work, to the less fortunate. He was supportive to both of us as we took on leadership roles in the class, which was so encouraging. The last, difficult time that he was with us is now over. We are praying for the family, particularly Wendy, Fraser, and Mathew, during this time of loss.

As I entered the BCP world Ken became one of my mentors, always willing to answer a question or provide direction or guidance. Over time we worked on various DRIE activities and I remember fondly his willingness to contribute to the general cause. Over this time Ken became a good friend and companion in the BCP world. I appreciated his guidance and warm approachable manner. You will be well remembered Ken, rest in peace.
