In memory of

Keerin John Reid

August 15, 1994 -  September 23, 2017

You are loved.

Keerin spent his life loving it. He is remembered for an unparalleled passion for his friends and family, though none compared to his commitment to his mother Sharon. His friends will attest to his unwavering and unselfish loyalty to them. Chelsea FC can claim him as a loyal supporter. He was an incredibly strong young man, with a great big heart and so much to give in spite of his life long struggle with mental illness. We love Keerin with all our hearts, and know it was not enough to shield him from the world.

He is survived by his parents Sharon Vandrish and Kevin Reid (Mary), his brother Kelton (Jenna Maria), grandparents Bob and Julie Vandrish and Gladys Reid (predeceased by Peter Reid), uncles Rob (Kim) and Kerry (Debra), and cousins Tyler, RJ, Stephen, Sean (Krystal) and Scott Vandrish. Keerin is credited for giving the gift of life to four others through organ donation.

We express our appreciation for his teachers and support teams along his journey. Our deepest gratitude extends to the frontline responders, the ICU nurses and all medical staff at William Osler Hospital, The Trillium Gift of Life team, and in particular one true, dedicated CYW turned friend, Shelton Roberts, whose guidance and support paralleled the role of parent to Keerin.

No one is immune. No family is above these struggles. This can happen to anyone. Keerin mattered so much to so many and we love him eternally. Please consider making a donation in his honour to the Canadian Mental Health Association Peel Dufferin Branch (www.cmhapeeldufferin.ca and 905-451-2123) or the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health Foundation (www.supportcamh.ca and 416-979-6909).

All are welcome to share their stories at the visitation this Friday from 5 to 6pm for family, 6 to 9pm for friends, and Saturday from 1:30 to 3:30 pm, followed by a celebration of life at 4:20pm (!) at Meadowvale’s Funeral Centre, 7732 Mavis Road in Brampton (905) 451-3716. Please join us at a reception at the Peel Police Association, 10675 Mississauga Road, Brampton (905) 846-0615 immediately following the service. All are welcome.

We will celebrate Keerin as we knew him.

I'll forever remember Keerin in his childhood, an intuitive, funny and kind kid, always at ease and getting up to his antics! He is loved as are the entire Vandrish and Reid communities. Bless all of you and see you soon my friends. xxo

Although we never met Keerin, we both sense the strong bond that he shared with his loving family. We are very sad that this tragic event transpired, and hope that with the support of good friends and family, you will heal your heart. All the love and support in these trying times, Marc & Lyn.

Sharon and family. What can one say...no parent should have to bury their child. My aches for you and your family. Please know that I keep you in my heart and prayers. Please take care.
