In memory of

Kathryn Anne Joustra

April 29, 1992 -  October 27, 2018

It is with great sadness that we announce the loss of our wonderful daughter at the age of 26. Kathryn will be greatly missed by her parents Janice and Dirk, her brothers Paul (Christie) and Kevin, her aunt Dauna and “Uncle Steve” and her grandfather Buppa. She was predeceased by her grandmothers Nanny and Oma.

Kathryn was born in Toronto and lived in the North Toronto area until her late teens when she moved to the west end. She loved to be near the lake, either walking or biking, and especially enjoyed spending time on Centre Island.

With a fabulous sense of humour, Kathryn could always come up with the perfect line for the situation. She had a passion for music and usually played it at blast level when at home and rarely left home without her headphones on. She enjoyed movies, dining out and spending time with friends. Kathryn was a caring and compassionate young woman and was studying Psychology at York University with the dream of providing support to troubled youth and young adults.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation at 1pm- 2pm followed by a Celebration of Life at 2pm in her honour on Monday November 5th, 2018 in the Chapel at the Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre (375 Mount Pleasant Road, East gate entrance). In lieu of flowers donations to the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) would be appreciated by the family.

The family would like to acknowledge the compassionate care she received in the ICU at St. Joseph’s Health Centre.

Kathryn was much loved and will be greatly missed. We hope our precious girl is now at peace.
“She has out-soared the shadow of our night.”

Kathryn was such a special person - we spent the last years of high school together at Subway Academy. She was never judging, full of compassion, and always there for me when I needed a friend. I remember the endless days and nights of laughter with her, and how comfortable I felt around her. She was fabulously genuine- friendship like hers is rare, and I feel lucky to have been close with her for those years. She will always be in my heart.
