In memory of

Kathleen Nolan

December 20, 1920 -  June 23, 2016

Nolan (nee Penziwol) - Kathleen (Katherine)

In her 96th year on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at Scarborough General Hospital after a brief illness. She joins her beloved late husband Leonard and her sisters Tena Traskowski, Annie Pomarenski, Mary Kruk and Doris Palahitski. Devoted Mother of Mary Ellen (Garrie Wert) and James (Leslie). Cherished Baba of Kathleen (Mark Roath) and proud Great-Baba of Hannah and Connor Roath. Kathleen lived the life of at least three women, finding her place in the world and business, decades before it was considered appropriate for women to do so. First generation Canadian, born of Ukraine settlers in Fraserwood, Manitoba, she left the farm for Toronto. First acting as a chatelaine to a prominent physician and his family, and later in running her own business in and out of her home. Despite her commitment to her work, Kathleen remained fully devoted to her family. Her life and her accomplishments leave a proud legacy. The family would also like to give a special thank you to the staff at Rockcliffe Care Community and Scarborough Hospital; Palliative Care Unit for their kindness and dedication. Family and friends will be received at PINE HILLS CEMETERY & FUNERAL CENTRE, 625 Birchmount Rd., Scarborough (north of St. Clair Ave. E., 416-267-8229) on Wednesday, June 22 from 6-9 p.m. and on Thursday, June 23 at 10:30 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. If so desired, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
