Passed away peacefully at the Scarborough Health Network – Birchmount Campus (formerly known as Scarborough Grace / Salvation Army) on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at the age of 85. She was a cherished daughter, Mother, sister, aunt, Godmother, nursing colleague and friend. She is predeceased by her parents Cecil Sobers and Doris Sobers (nee Kellman); siblings Wendell, Herbert and Wilma. Kathie leaves to mourn her only child and daughter Karen, sister Deborah and brothers Berkeley and Geoffrey; as well as nephews Stephen, Daley, Roger, Daniel and Richard and nieces Jacqueline, Gloria, Natasha, Cheryl and Deidre, including many great nieces and nephew, several cousins, other relatives and great friends.

Karen greatly appreciates the outpouring of love and prayers from people near and far. Also, she would like to thank her relatives and friends that have been a constant source of support, and those who served as volunteer sitters during her Mom’s failing health, especially those who were very “present” during the most critical periods of her Mother’s end of life journey. Further, heartfelt gratitude goes to the healthcare team in the community and Circle of Care, the Scarborough Birchmount Hospital (formerly Grace / The Salvation Army), a Scarborough Health Network affiliate as well as the pioneers of the HISH program, and their partner agency Bayshore. God bless you richly in health and practice, and keep you and your loved ones safe.
