In memory of

Karen Ellen Grube

September 29, 1962 -  July 24, 2023

Karen Ellen Grube (60) passed away peacefully on July 24, 2023, at home with her beloved husband Jim and two sons Ryan and Tyler by her side.

Born in Toronto on September 29th, 1962, to Teresa and Heinz Rauch where she also lived with her 3 brothers Brian, Eric, and Kevin; a “house full of men” as she liked to put it. Karen had a very large extended family.

Karen and Jim married in 1992 and lived in the Cricket Club neighbourhood of Toronto with their sons, Ryan and Tyler, for more than 30 years. She loved decorating and gardening, which could be seen in the way she created a loving, warm home.

Karen had a very fulfilling career at RBC for more than 30 years and enjoyed working and interacting with all of her colleagues. Prior to this, she worked at Silcorp, the parent of Baskin Robbins, where it brought her great joy to treat her family regularly with 1-gallon tubs of ice cream. Another selfless act.

Karen was strong willed, determined, and persistent; was always easy to talk to, maintained her cool and had an enormous heart. She always did nice things for her family without thought. A person who put others’ needs before her own.

She was generous, loyal, and brave, but was also pragmatic and logical. She liked nice things but was not materialistic. Karen lived in a humble manner and enjoyed the simple things in life. A perfect wife and mother in all ways.

Karen will be fondly remembered and sorely missed.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memoriam may be made to The Canadian Cancer Society or to Sunnybrook Health Sciences - Odette Cancer Centre.

Karen was a wonderful working mom and I had the lucky fortune to know her during our Armour Heights days. Lots of playdates with the kids and more recently visits on dog walks. Will miss her smiling face and great advice on being a working mom.

We worked with Karen at RBC. Such a great lady. I know in the last year she has been through a lot. She had such a great attitude with all she was going through. Such a great loss. My condolences to her family.

Karen,
I love and miss you dearly. You were my big sister that I could rely on and were seemingly always there for me. You introduced me to eclectic and fine dining and theatre and were an inspiration in my developing a love of traveling this wild and wonderful country and world that we are graced with.

You were a thoughtful sister in law and caring aunt that never missed an occasion to make us feel special.

You married an amazing husband, Jim and together raised Ryan and Tyler, two strong, incredible and independent sons. Your legacy remains in our cherished memories and the gifts of continuing to live with your family.
