In memory of

June Lily Irene Brett

December 29, 1927 -  July 30, 2020

June Lily Irene Brett (nee Moore) passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 30, 2020 at the age of 92. She was born December 29, 1927 to Lil and Stuart Moore in Toronto, Ontario. June is predeceased by her loving husband of 50 years, Leo, her sister Shirley, and her two brothers Elwin and Stuart.

June is lovingly remembered by her two sons, John and Leo, daughter-in-law Kathy, her grandchildren, Chris, Tara, Lee (Sandy), and Laura (Chris), and her beloved great-grandchildren.

She started out working in the war plant in Malton at age 15. June loved aviation and was the Manager at Field Aviation for 27 years. June and Leo enjoyed hosting family and friends over the years at their home on Pigeon Lake where there was sure to be music and dancing, cribbage and card games, and many laughs over cocktails or tea. Through their retirement years, June was an avid “Snowbird”, making lasting memories spending winters in Florida. She enjoyed her last 17 years surrounded by her cherished family and friends who will miss her dearly.

A small service, due to COVID restrictions, will be held on Wednesday, August 5th at Meadowvale Cemetery in Mississauga. In lieu of flowers, June requested that donations be made in her memory to Bethell House Hospice - an amazing facility with a truly incredible staff. ( https://bethellhospice.org/ )

June, we all aspire to grow old as gracefully as you did. You amazed me - how young you always looked. More than that, you were young at heart. You related to every generation and you were so easy to talk to. You were a wonderful lady, an ever caring Mom, a joyful Mother In Law, Grandmother and Great Grandma - but foremost you were a dear friend to everyone, in your circle of family and friends. You were just June - one of the gang - and everyone enjoyed your company. I know you counted yourself lucky to be so close to your sons John and Leo and I would say your 'daughter' Kathy. They looked after you and you looked after them. I want to thank you for helping me through difficult times, you always had the words to help with healing. I am blessed to have had you in my life and I know those who greet you on the other side now feel blessed to receive you back into theirs. Until we meet again... Barb

Mrs. Brett will be sadly missed but always remembered. There were many great
memories from being invited to stay for dinner when you weren't expected yet always
treated like one of the family. I became a full time member guest of the Brett cottage where everyone always enjoyed themselves whether it was horse shoes, cards, boating or cocktail hour. The only stress related activity was playing euchre to see who did the dishes. June was generous and kind adopting many of Leo and John's friends as family
members.
June will definitely be a hard person to replace.
