In memory of

蘇轉儀女士 Juanne Yee Young

July 27, 1959 -  July 8, 2020

It is with immense sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Juanne Yee Young (Su). With family at her bedside, Juanne passed away peacefully, at the age of 60, on July 8th, 2020 at Sunnybrook Hospital. She was loving mother, wife, sister, aunt, and friend. She was, and always has been a fighter. Her determination and drive was unparalleled.

Originally born in Guangzhou, China, Junane left China on her own for Guyana in her early 20's and lived there for a year not knowing the language or the people. She persevered and a year later she arrived in Canada, where she would build a new life for herself. Here, she met her loving husband of 35 years, Richard, who survives her today. Together they have four children; Amanda, Vanessa, Sarah and Andrew, who inherited her fearlessness, selflessness, hard-headed and empathetic ways.

Juanne was resilient, curious and resourceful, always interested in finding a way to learn and do new things. She taught herself three languages, she loved to bake and cook, she was able to create any item given a needle and thread, and she found happiness in the little things. Juanne was an avid gardener throughout her life, and was happiest tending to her flower and vegetable gardens. She always put others first. She never wavered, and provided her family with unconditional love and support. Juanne was the backbone of our family. We are forever grateful for the opportunities she afforded us, and for always keeping us in touch with our family's Chinese customs and traditions.

Juanne is preceded in death by her father, and is survived by her mother, her husband Richard, her four children, five siblings, and many cousins, nieces and nephews across Canada, China, and New Zealand.

We would like to extend our gratitude to the medical team at Sunnybrook Hospital, for their exceptional and attentive care. We would also like to acknowledge and thank the staff at Providence Hospital, the PSW's at St. Elizabeth and all of the additional healthcare workers who assisted Juanne in her care.

She will be forever missed.

Dear Young Family,
My heart-felt condolences are extended to you at this difficult time. I had immense respect for your mother; she conquered linguistic and cultural barriers to afford her children a brighter future. She was always polite and dignified. I will forever remember her pride in her family and in her children's accomplishments.
May her memory always be for a blessing.
