In memory of

Joyce Ann Tipper

June 3, 1958 -  January 19, 2024

We are incredibly saddened to announce the passing of our beautiful and deeply beloved Joyce, who died this Friday at the Mackenzie Health Richmond Hill palliative care wing. Private cremation only.

Joyce was a passionate chef, a bit of a board game and card shark, and above all, a remarkably loving mother. She cooked for world leaders at the G8 summit and was a fixture in the Huntsville culinary world. You might have bumped into her while walking the halls of local seniors' homes with her therapy dog Ribbon, her cherished retired Dog Guide, or cooking up endless meals for the hungry guests at Camp Tawingo or Deerhurst Resort. The world is an immeasurably poorer place without her in it. She was undoubtedly the best of us.

Joyce is survived by her husband John, her daughters Amy (Josh) and Ann (Brandon), her son Keith (Soizic) and her close friend Lorraine. Predeceased by her beloved parents Jean and Tom Masson.

The family asks that you honour Joyce by sharing a treat with someone and/or some dog you love.

Donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in lieu of flowers. You can donate by clicking the "Donations" link at the bottom of this page.

Ann, there are no words to ease your pain but know that I have been thinking of you and your mom. Your mom raised an incredible daughter and I wish I had a chance to meet her.
Thinking of you and sending a lot of love,
Maggy

We are so sorry to hear this news. Joyce sounds like a wonderful person who will be missed by many, especially her family
Ann, we remember the support you gave Brandon when his grandfather died, may you be surrounded by that same support now.
Love, Tim and Shelley

This is incredibly sad news and while I never had the chance to meet Joyce, I can see the remarkable impression she has left on the world through her daughter and my friend Ann. Reading the short bio of Joyce brings me to tears as I feel we would have got along so well, and from all the wonderful things others have shared about her, it’s clear that her spirit will live on through those she has connected with. Sending much love and support to all those affected by this tragedy ❤️

My heart breaks for what you and your family are going through right now Ann. It’s never easy to lose a loved one, but it’s especially difficult to lose a mother. They are most often the pillars of our families and strongest supporters, the ones that cheer the loudest, and the one’s who can console us the best. The hole they leave in our lives and in our hearts is felt physically as well as emotionally. It now falls to the rest of your family and all of your friends to poor all the love they can into you and that hole in hopes of alleviating even a small bit of that sadness. I hope in time you can take joy in doing some of the things your mom used to love doing and remembering only the best memories of the times you shared. The love you feel for her and the joy of re-living those memories will supersede the sadness of her loss. My heart felt condolences are with you and your family, now and always.
We love you Ann
