In memory of

Josephine Mary Bell

October 7, 1929 -  June 9, 2024

Josephine Mary Bell nee Wilbraham, Born October 7, 1929 in London England, died June 9, 2024 in Toronto Canada.

In 1939 Josie was evacuated from London during WW2 along with her brother Sydney (deceased 2017) and sister Patricia. Josie was sent to Northampton UK while Sid and Pat were sent elsewhere, further separating her from her beloved family. Josie returned to London at the age of 14. Upon her return she went to work at a local dairy in Sudbury, Middlesex.

A few years after the war ended, she met and fell in love with Peter James Bell (deceased October 23, 2007) of Harrow who had recently returned from fighting the war in the Far East. Shortly thereafter, they married at the Harrow Registry’s Office and sailed to Canada in October of 1948.

Josie was the very proud and loving Mother of Stephen, James and Janice, adored Grandmother of Warren, Alysha, Jamie, Michael and Sarah, as well as a much loved Auntie to Debra, Paris, Jeff, and Nicholas. Josie was a wonderful Mother in Law to Nora, Sylvie and David, as well as Sister in Law to Carl, and Peter’s sister Joan, each of whom shared many fabulous roast beef and Yorkshire pudding dinners and good times spent together with Her and Peter.

She is survived by her many proud Great Grandchildren; Jaiden, Kaiya, MacKenzie, Brooklyn, Jackson, Gabriel, and Barrington, who enjoyed her fanciness and subtle likeness to “The Queen”.
For all who knew her, Josephine was a very lovely, refined, dignified, caring and precise Lady, who will be missed dearly and forever loved.

Sincere appreciation goes out to the staff at Fieldstone Commons, and the Doctors and Nurses at Scarborough Grace Hospital.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Parkinson’s Canada, the Canadian Diabetes Association, or the J.David and Jan Crichton Caregiver’s Fund at Princess Margaret Hospital.

The best sister anyone could ever have. I cared for her so much as she did for me. She will always be in my heart. I already miss our daily phone calls. I loved her dearly.
We shared so much of our lives with each other. She suffered so terribly and it was not fair. Patricia Vassel. 🩷🩷
