The family of Joseph (Joe / Seppi) Walter wishes to announce his passing on Thursday June 22, 2023, at the age of 93. Joe passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family.

Beloved husband of the late Hilda (nee Bruckler), and subsequently loving companion of the late Myrna Boisse. Cherished son of the late Mathias and Anna (nee Michl) Walter. Loving father of JoAnne Bagnall (Robert) and Christine Collins (Daniel). Loving and proud Opa of Rebekah (John D’Amico), Geoffrey (Julia Brew), Russell, Shane and Adeline. Dear brother of Maria Ure and the late Matthias Walter. Joe leaves behind many nieces and nephews, including their families, as well as many cherished friends.

Born in 1929, in Rudolfsgnad, Yugoslavia (present-day Serbia), Joe made the journey to Canada in 1953. Most of his career was with Sprague Electric of Canada. He began working there in 1965, in Operations. He applied his engineering skills until retiring as President, in 1996.

Joe will be remembered for his strong belief in the importance of exercise and physical activity, long before it became popular with others. He enjoyed playing tennis and squash for many years and he played golf for most of his life. He was also an avid football (soccer) fan, watching all Bayern Munich games with his brother.

His final message to his friends and family was to ‘enjoy every day’ because life is meant to be lived.
