It is with deep sadness the family announces that Joe Poirier passed away peacefully with his wife Carol Poirier by his side on June 21st 2023 at age 76. Born on October 30th 1946 in Cheticamp, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. Predeceased by his loving parents, Lubie and Frances Poirier, his in-laws Cy and Eleanor Elsey, his siblings Anthony, Mary Margaret, Brian and his beloved sister-in-law Marn. Survived by his wife & soulmate Carol (Elsey) Poirier, his sons Mark and John (Cheryl), grandchildren David and Alice and his siblings Caroline, Linda, Bob (Wendy) and Blair (Bev). Joe was retired from Coca-Cola Ltd. and enjoyed his retirements years with his wife Carol travelling abroad and to Florida. Joe and Carol recently celebrated 50 years of marriage. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law and Uncle. At his mother-in-law's funeral it was noted that he was an exceptional son-in-law. He embodied the virtues of being kind and compassionate with everyone knowing they could rely on during a crisis. Joe will be forever missed and held dearly in the hearts of all his family and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 26th, 2023 @ 11 a.m. at Westminster United Church, 1850 Rossland Rd. E., Whitby, ON.
