In memory of

Jose Marin

August 23, 1924 -  February 2, 2017

It is with immense sadness and empty hearts that we announce the passing of our most cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather Jose in his 93rd year. Loving husband and lifelong partner to Mercedes, whom he shared a remarkable 68 years of marriage. Proud and most caring Papa to Alicia (Carlos Furtado). Adored Abuelo to Charlie (Cristina) and Erika (Neil Arruda) and is Abuelo Bibi to Elenna. Loving brother to Francisco, Jenny, and Luisa. Jose is pre-deceased by his parents Angel and Luisa and brother, Osvaldo. A native of Sao Paulo, Brazil, Jose immigrated to Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1941, meeting Mercedes shortly after. The Marin family was made whole in 1955 with the birth of their only daughter, Alicia. Despite turning down a request to showcase his soccer talent with the Argentinian Racing Club, Jose could often be found playing street football with his siblings and neighbourhood comrades. Jose dedicated years of hard work to the family textile business and as a dedicated family man, provided family life that was rich in culture and love. An avid Bocci, Canasta and Chin Chon player, Jose’s talents and friendships were nothing shy of extraordinary. Jose will also be fondly remembered by a strong network of extended friends and family in Brazil, Argentina and Canada. Family and friends will be received at MEADOWVALE FUNERAL CENTRE, 7732 Mavis Road, Brampton, L6Y 5L5, (905-451-3716) on Sunday, February 5, 2017 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Funeral Service in honour of Jose will be held in the Funeral Home on Monday, February 6, 2017 at 11:00am. Burial to follow at Meadowvale Cemetery. If desired, Memorial Donations in memory of Jose may be made to the Ontario Federation of Cerebral Palsy, a charitable organization very dear to the hearts of the family.
