In memory of

Jose Francisco Linhares

June 20, 1949 -  April 17, 2021

Jose Francisco Linhares, 71 of Streetsville, went to be with our Lord on Saturday April 17th, 2021. He was born in Ponta Garca, Sao Miguel, Azores to Arthur & Emerlinda Linhares (deceased). After his military service, he married his sweetheart, Maria do Carmo Linhares and immigrated to Canada. They would have celebrated 48 years of marriage in September.

He loved the outdoors and spent countless hours tending to his flowers, roses, fruit trees and vegetable garden. He was proud to support his family and retire from Maple Lodge Farms after 37 years of service. He enjoyed attending the Portuguese cultural festivals and community gatherings. He was a devoted Roman Catholic and held Senhor Santo Cristo dear to his heart.

He will be greatly missed by his daughter Nelia (Tony) Cabral, son Carlos Linhares and daughter Valerie (Larry) Martins. He was a loving Vavo to his grandchildren who were his pride and joy, Isaiah Cabral, Monaco Martins, Emily Cabral and Milana Martins.
In addition to his wife, children and grandchildren, he is survived by his three siblings, Rita Linhares, Arthur Linhares and Estrella Linhares, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family would like to thank family and friends for their love and support. They also acknowledge the doctors and nurses of Milton District Hospital who showed great compassion and care.

Jose was a man a few words, but his love for family was in abundance. His family will never forget his words, “Family Together”.

Joe taught me to love rabbits and helped me raise a few. He was a great neighbor and a friend to my Dad.
Thinking of you all. He will be missed.

Daddy,
My heart is broken for you were our rock,
Streetsville will miss the sight of you on your daily walk.
A man of few words and your garden full of vegetables, fruits and flowers.
" Juizo na cabeca" is what you would say when we left the house for hours.
I know St Peter had heavens gates open for you as you walked his way, you were the best daddy ever and in my heart you will always stay.
I love you PJ Joe and no matter what Nelia thinks, I'm your favourite younger daughter( wink, wink, wink)

My heart is broken for you all. Joe was one of Dad's friends for many years. I remember the two of them gardening together (leaning on the fence chatting with a glass of wine) I grew up with Nelia, Carlos and Valerie and have always felt like part of the family. I wish I could be there to offer more support, like the Linhares has always done for our family.
Joe was a wonderful man and will be missed by many.
