In memory of

Joka Sakotic

June 22, 1936 -  November 9, 2019

Joka Sakotic (nee Stankovic)

Joka passed peacefully on November 9th 2019 at the age of 83 in her home in Toronto. She will be deeply missed by her beloved son George (Bernadine), her surviving sisters Danica (Dragan) and Maria, as well as numerous nieces and nephews from her seven siblings. She was predeceased by her husband Cedomir.

Joka was born in Bosnia and always had a sense for adventure. She took the bold step to leave her friends and family and immigrate to Canada in search of better opportunities. She successfully carved a new life for herself and remained completely devoted to her son. She had a passion for playing lawn bowling, and loved nothing more than watching golf and figure skating. She relished her trips back home, particularly the time spent on the farm with her family. Joka will be remembered for her strength as a breast cancer and lung cancer survivor. She lived life on her own terms.

A private family service and burial will be held on Friday November 15th 2019 at the York Cemetery and Funeral Center in Toronto.

I am so sorry to hear about Joka's passing. We all looked forward to seeing her at the office, as she was always full of spunk, even when she obviously wasn't feeling well. She was strong, funny, and independent, and she will be missed.
