In memory of

John Wesley Pickering

September 7, 1950 -  February 3, 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Wesley Pickering on February 3rd, 2023. Loved by his wife Christine and sons J.T. and Christopher. Survived by his brother Robert (Robin). Predeceased by his father, John Nathan and mother, Lillian Rhoda.

John was a graduate of the University of Toronto, where he studied forestry, computer science and teaching before entering a long and successful career in computer programming.

John was an avid supporter of Scouts Canada and participated in Scouting for more than sixty years. He was the recipient of Scouts Canada’s highest award. John was also an enthusiastic member of the Alfa Romeo Club of Canada, serving in many capacities for more than fifty years.

John had a great love for the outdoors; camping, hiking, and canoeing. He was never happier than when he had a chainsaw in his hands at his cottage.

John will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

The funeral took place Monday February 13th, 2023. A recording of the funeral service is available under the "Media" tab above.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada are appreciated.

We will miss John and his cynical sense of humour which provided many laughs over the years. The longevity of the Canadian Alfa Romeo Club is due in no small part to John's constant dedication.
Happy motoring, John.
