With great sadness, we announce the passing of John at home in Scarborough, Ontario in his 92nd year. Predeceased by his parents Boris and Lena, and his brother Koustaki. John is survived by his daughter Elaine Pick (Derrick), son Daniel Peikas (Joanne Berry), grandchildren Stefan Laskis (Joanna), Marika Bower (Graham), John and Danielle Peikas, great grandchildren Cole and Arabella, all in Toronto.

John was born in the Macedonian village of Debrets, northern Greece. After enduring the depression, World War Two and a subsequent revolution, John and his mother were finally able to immigrate to Canada in 1953. John was reunited with his father who had arrived in Canada 28 years earlier in Toronto. He was also reunited with childhood friend Marika to whom he was married shortly after arriving. John was a hardworking and industrious man who spent a long and successful career as a carpenter. His proudest project was the cottage he built for his family in Halliburton during the early seventies. John and Marika loved to entertain and graciously welcomed friends and family for many wonderful years. These were their family’s happiest and most treasured times.

A private funeral service will be held at Pine Hills Cemetery on September 22, 2021. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Michael Garron Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
