John Luis Pereira Farias, in his 70th year, passed away on July 24, 2023. Born to Luis Faria (May 13, 1925 - August 30, 2022) and Maria da Conceicao (May 18, 1926 - April 5, 1981) in Capelas, Sao Miguel, Azores, John was the third of seven children.

Arriving in Canada in 1970, John lived in Brampton for more than four decades, where he began his 48-year career at Maple Lodge Farms. He and Lucy, his loving wife of 43 years, raised their family in Brampton before retiring in Lagoon City in 2018.

John was an avid sports fan with a true passion for soccer, hockey and baseball. He could often be found watching the birds, and feeding the squirrels and chipmunks, tending to his gardens, and fishing on Lake Simcoe.

John is survived by his wife Lucy, his daughter Janine (Shaun) and his son Andrew (Carolyn), his grandson Wesley, and his six siblings Alda, Graciana, Billy, Fernando, Joe, and Tony and their families.

In memory of John, donations to RVH Foundation or Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital Foundation are welcome in lieu of flowers.
