John James Dunbar

December 13, 1935 -  March 15, 2025

With sadness, we announce the passing of John Dunbar on March 15, 2025. John was born in Timmins, Ontario on December 13, 1935 and later resided in Toronto, Ontario. He was the cherished husband of Shirley Dunbar (nee Leino) for 59 years who passed away May 15, 2024. John will be missed by his sister Charlene Renton and his extended family: sister-in-law Adrienne Dunbar and Deanna Green and brothers-in-law, Brian Green and Derryk Renton. He was blessed with many nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Diane and Jack Dunbar, brothers Hurbert, Jerry, Brian and sister Vivian. John enjoyed his working career within Toronto City Hall and ended his 35 year career in the Building and Inspection Department. Many thanks to John’s caregiver Conchita Gacita and to the staff at UHN Toronto Rehabilitation Institute for their kindness & care of John. A celebration of his life will be held at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Plot B (375 Mount Pleasant Road, Toronto) on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at 1:00 with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers donations would be greatly appreciated to the Alzheimer’s Society or UHN Toronto Rehabilitation Institute.

I am very sorry John passed away but he is now with Shirley. When I think of John I see his beautiful smile and sparkling eyes and of course his great sense of houmor

I was saddened to hear of Johns passing but he is now with the love of his life Shirley. John had a great sense of humour and a beautiful smile and you were always welcome into his home.
I will keep him in my prayers.
