In memory of

The Barber John "Ioannis" Koutsovasilis

February 11, 1940 -  July 18, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John (Ioannis) Koutsovasilis, who left us peacefully on July 18, 2025, at the age of 85.

John was born on February 11, 1940, in Vrontama, Greece. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, he lived a life defined by hard work, dedication, and love for his family and community.

In his early years, John proudly served in the Greek Army as a Sergeant before pursuing his passion as a barber. He opened his first barbershop in his hometown of Vrontama, where he became known not only for his skill but for his warmth and generosity.

In 1964, John immigrated to Canada, settling first in Montreal before making Toronto, Ontario, his home. There, he continued his career as a barber, eventually opening his own barbershop. Known by many as the “Ace Barber” and regarded as one of the best in the west end, John took pride in making people look and feel their best. His barbershop became more than just a place for a haircut, it was a gathering spot filled with laughter, friendship, and community.

Outside of work, John enjoyed tending to his plants, barbecuing, spending cherished time with his grandchildren, and attending family gatherings and social events. His kindness, humour, and vibrant spirit touched the lives of all who knew him.

John passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered by his loving family and friends.

May his memory be eternal.

On behalf of the Aspasia and Costas Manolias families, we all extend our deepest sympathies and condolences, for the loss uncle John.
He was a genuine and peaceful human being and most of all a wonderful and pleasant soul.
To his wife aunt Alexandra, his son Peter and his family, and his grand children brought to this world by our wonderful Bessy, our heart and soul is hurting, right next to your hurting hearts and souls.
Uncle John is in a better place now, and the heavenly euphoria of being next to his daughter Bessie, will light up the night skies for all eternity! Just look at the stars and you will feel them both!
We will always miss you Uncle John, and until we meet again, so we too can feel that heavenly euphoria. Amen!
