In memory of

John Gallo

June 6, 1956 -  December 10, 2022

John Gallo, 66, passed away peacefully on December 10th at Scarborough General Hospital. He is predeceased by his Father-in-law, Fred, and survived by Parents, Carmine and Rose, Wife, Lorraine, Mother-in-law, Beverly, Brother, Frank (Sylvia), Sister, Josie, Nephews, Mario, and Daniel, and beloved dog Abbey.

John was born on June 6th, 1956 in Toronto. He was raised in East York, where he later met his wife to be, Lorraine Lavecque. John went to school at Overlea Secondary (now Marc Garneau) and Danforth Collegiate and Technical Institute. From an early age John developed an interest in music, specifically The Beatles, and a passion for art. John later used his artistic skills and abilities to work as a Graphic Artist for TVO, where he retired only a few short years ago.

If you knew John, you knew he was extremely patient, selfless, loving and always more than willing to lend a helping hand and take on any task or project. He was an avid animal lover, and his flower beds and gardens were always meticulous. Even during his short stay at Bridgepoint Rehabilitation Centre this past summer, John would venture out onto the terrace and transplant, prune, and groom the flower beds. John had an innate ability to draw and could do so on the spot with a dull pencil and a serviette.

The Family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the Doctors and Nurses at Mount Sinai Hospital, Oncology Clinic and Surgical Units who provided John with genuine care and tremendous support throughout his battle.

John will be terribly missed by his friends and family. Visitation will take place on Friday December 16th from 1:00pm to 3:00pm at Pine Hills Funeral Home.

Dearest Lorraine, Uncle Carmen, Aunt Rose, Frank and Josie. There are no words to express the sorrow on the loss of John. As kids growing up together he was always the shining light in any room. How he loved the Beatles and it amazed me on his knowledge of their songs and history. My favourite memory was when our grandma Gallo passed away and I was hosting the dinner in between the viewings. He was the first to jump up and say I am coming to help you cook. We shared stories and the few hours spent in my kitchen will be a memory forever. I love you John and now you are reconnected in heaven with your cousin, my brother John. You will be missed!

To hear this dreadful news is heartbreaking. I pray for you to have the strength to cope in the days ahead. I hope the painful memories fade and the joyful ones become stronger as you talk about them with each other.
