In memory of

John Findlay

September 3, 1960 -  June 11, 2024

John passed away at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on June 11th, 2024, at the age of 63. Cherished husband of Diane for 30 years to the day, and loving father to Victor for 28 years. He will also be dearly missed by his mother, Theresa, and his extended family & friends. Pre-deceased by father John [2003]. John worked as a tool & die maker for 30 years at General Motors in Oshawa. An avid life-long hockey fan, player, and admirer of Bobby Orr & the Boston Bruins, he continued to dedicate time to the game sharpening skates at local pro shops in his post-GM retirement. John enjoyed attending junior hockey games with his son Victor for many years & in the summer they would spend time on the golf course together. Outside the workplace and the hockey rink, John enjoyed spending his time in the gym, and completing work around the house. Visitation will be held at THORNTON CEMETERY & FUNERAL CENTRE, 1200 Thornton Road North, Oshawa, [South of Taunton Road and off of Dryden Blvd, 905-579-6787] on Monday, July 8th, 2024, from 10 am until time of service in the chapel at 11 am. My condolences. I know it was a private battle and I never had a chance to really meet John, but as someone who worked with Victor as he became who is today, I know his father helped him be the success he is today and John must have been a great father and husband.

My heart goes out to you Diane; and I know having Victor at your side you can weather this storm.

John will be sadly missed by all who knew him. He was a good man, he was a perfectionist, he was soft spoken, and quite logical, but above all he had a great sense of humor. We often laughed when I used to call him "Johnny rotten "and he'd reply "that's me rotten to the core". Rest in peace my friend.

My heartfelt sympathy for Diane and Victor on the loss of a husband and father. You’ve certainly run a marathon with various health challenges and John’s cancer journey. May John rest in peace. May you find peace and comfort as you move forward.
