John Edward Hinphey passed away peacefully at home on March 8th, 2024; a month shy of his 89th birthday.

His true passion in life was bridge. He was a life master, and was also a wicked poker player. After retiring from Bell Canada, John was able to "up his game", but also found time to volunteer many hours to Durham Community Care. He was well known for being available to anyone who needed a helping hand.

John was predeceased by his devoted wife, Jeannie (January 23, 1940 - September 11, 2014), a beautiful woman inside and out, with intelligence and wit. Jeannie lived her life with good humour and style.

Both John and Jeannie were generous and kind people, and just fun to be around. They are missed and will not be forgotten.

As did Jeannie, John also requested that no service is to be held. In their memory, please help someone, share a joke, and perhaps have a drink or two.
