In memory of

John Albert "Jack" Matheson

June 30, 1944 -  June 18, 2020

With sadness we announce the peaceful passing of John (Jack) Albert Matheson III on June 18, 2020.

Jack was predeceased by his parents, John and Mary Matheson and partner Marnie Honey. Remaining to cherish his memory are his daughters Gail Matheson and Heather (Guy) Cote, son Glenn Matheson, granddaughters Chantelle, Julia, and Bailey; grandsons Jeff, Marcus, and Kai; step son Christopher Cullan; sisters Joan Campbell and Janice Kingswell; and ex wife Shirley Matheson.

Jack will also be deeply missed by his best friend of nearly 50 years Ian White who both always made the effort to toast at Christmas no matter where they were in the world.

Jack was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada on June 30, 1944 and because he was in a military family he would live and grow up in many parts of Ontario & New Brunswick Canada, France, Germany, as well as his home town of Winnipeg. Jack had an excellent work ethic. His favorite position was with CJOB, a local radio station in Winnipeg, where he would host a Sunday morning talk show. Later on, he would work with the Royal Bank Canada for nearly 20 years until he semi-retired. He then worked for PC Financial and then as a security guard part time to stay busy.

Jack led a life with activities and hobbies that brought him great joy. As a young ‘lad’ he enjoyed playing basketball and learning about aircraft, the love of which continued throughout his life. He loved reading and enjoyed westerns the most. He had a very sharp mind and enjoyed games of strategy and knowledge such as chess and math & word puzzles. He could do complicated math calculations in his head in seconds that would astound us all.

We wish to give special thanks to the ICU team at University Hospital - London Health Sciences Centre, particularly Nurse Julie in the ICU.

A private Celebration of Life has already taken place.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Jack’s memory may be made to your local chapter of the Kidney Foundation. Online donations can be sent to: www. kidney.ca
