It is with great sadness that the Gower family announces the passing of Joan Mitcheson Gower. She was a beloved mother to Janice (Marcos), Geoff (Alla) and Leslye (Kevin). Cherished grandma to Laura and Keely; treasured great-grandma to Abrielle, Max and Andrea. While Joan had a long and accomplished career as a Registered Nurse in San Francisco, Montreal and Toronto, her children were first and foremost. She was totally devoted to her family. Joan’s retirement years were spent in Huntsville where she moved to be closer to Leslye, Kevin and Laura. She was an active member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Huntsville where she served as secretary of the Women’s Missionary Society, was a member of the choir and opened her home to a bible study group, the members of which were very special friends to her.

A graveside service will take place on Friday November 2nd, 2018 at 2:30pm at the York Funeral Centre and Cemetery (160 Beecroft Road, Toronto, 416-221-3404). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
