November 28, 1946 -  September 22, 2018

Passed away peacefully on September 22, 2018 at the age of 71. Daughter of the late Francis Hamill Jordan and Hazel Marie Jordan. Joan is survived by her sisters, Sheila McCallum of Scarborough and Carol-Ann Leith of Alberta. Adored Aunt of Bev, the late Barbara, David, Derrick, Marc, Ellie, Desireé Martin Jr. and Great-Aunt to Kaylee, Madison, Danielle, Dylan, Michelle and Nicole. Joan was a friend to many and an advocate for her community. Friends may call at PINE HILLS CEMETERY & FUNERAL CENTRE, 625 Birchmount Rd., Scarborough (north of St. Clair Ave. E., 416-267-8229) for visitation on Friday, September 28, 2018 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 10 a.m. with visitation 1 hour prior. If desired, donations can be made to the Police Association or PETA.

It happened that I got on the same WheelTrans Joan was on the same day they'd told her how long they estimated she had. Knowing I have cancer, we were able to share very openly and we prayed for the best. Our destination was a consultation regarding disabilities and I will always remember Joan's undaunted determination that day as she continued to be a strong advocate for seniors and disabled living in Toronto Community Housing. We feel the loss of this warrior for human rights and dignity.
