Becky Wayne (Family friend)

Jimmy and Bessy Katsioras owned and operated a variety store from the same home in which they raised their three children in the east end of Toronto.
One block west lived David and Mary Wayne, who were living parallel lives, owning and operating a business (clothing store) out of their home and raising their own three children.
Both families became deeply rooted into the community and also became very good friends. After raising their families, they both sold their
businesses/homes and moved to opposite ends of the city. But when Jimmy Katsioras was your friend, he was your friend for life.

Jimmy Katsioras was a special man, a generous person with a great sense of humour. He was always making people around him
laugh. While Bessy was still alive, they never missed an opportunity to call my parents on every Jewish Holiday to wish them well. After the sad passing of Bessy, Jimmy continued to called my parents every holiday.
After my father, David Wayne, passed away, Jimmy continued the tradition of calling my mother each and every holiday to wish her well.
In later years, when Jimmy met his partner Toula, he introduced her to my mother and the two of them bonded. Toula then became part of the holiday ritual. The last call was around April 22 when Jimmy
phoned my mother to wish her a Happy Passover. Jimmy was as friendly and cheerful as ever and there was no indication that he was having any health issues. Jimmy will be
sadly missed by my mother. No doubt he will be sadly missed by everyone who had the privilege to know him, because to know him was to love him.
