In memory of

Jim Nikitopoulos

July 17, 1936 -  September 20, 2017

Dimitrios “Jim” Nikitopoulos, 81, passed away in his sleep at the Baycrest Palliative Care Unit on Wednesday, September 21, 2017 in Toronto, Ontario. Jim was born July 17, 1936 to Peter and Stavroula Nikitopoulos in Tripoli, Greece. On August 20, 1963 he married Calliopi “Popi” Dadouli (predeceased) in Tripoli, Greece, and shortly after made their journey to Canada to build their life and family.
A carpenter and cabinet maker in Greece, Jim started Three AAA Construction soon after settling in Toronto. His work was second to none - a master craftsman - and built businesses like Pappas Grill, Ellas Banquet Halls and many others in the GTA. The business grew, allowing Jim to provide a good life for his family.
A proud Canadian who never lost his roots to Greece, Jim remained active in the Greek Community serving as President of the Panarcadian Federation between 1994-1998. In recent years, Jim returned to Greece each summer and spent time with his friends and neighbors in the Acadian Village.
Jim was a proud and hard working man who loved being part of the Greek community, attending festivals, dancing, sharing laugh and good times with friends. He made sure everyone was together at family gatherings and lite up when his grandchildren were around him.
Jim is survived by his 2 sons, Chris (Katrina) Nikitopoulos of Oakville and Peter (Janice) Nikitopoulos of Toronto and was a very proud Papou to his 3 grandchildren Helena, Anastasia and Kristina.
A time of gathering will be held on Sunday, September 24 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the York Funeral Centre, 160 Beecroft Rd. North York, ON. A church service will be held on Monday September 25th from 1-2 at Saint Dimitrios Church, 30 Thorncliffe Park Dr, East York.
