In memory of

Jeannie MacGregor

February 6, 1931 -  April 20, 2017

MacGregor, Jeannie Frances Matilda (Nee: Cadden)

February 6, 1931 - April 20, 2017
Peacefully, surrounded by her loving family ‎at TEGH.
Devoted daughter of Francis Manus Cadden of Derry, Northern Ireland and Betsy Deuchars Cadden of Dundee, Scotland. Beloved mother of Frances and Grant (Linda). Doting grandmother of Christopher, Adam (Rachel) Elizabeth (Ezra) Katie (Luciano) and Emily (Herman). Proud great-grandmother of Ava, Mia and Olivia.
Jeannie's focus on attention to detail and 'old-school' standards and beliefs were rare qualities which were appreciated by many over the years, particularly throughout her career of fifty-five-plus years at the YWCA Toronto where she delighted in working full time until the fantastic age of 85. She is well respected and fondly remembered by her co-workers at the 'YW'.
The Royal ‎Canadian Legion Branch 10 is where Jeannie made great friends and enjoyed so many good times, and she was well loved by our comrades at the Branch. They'll not forget Jeannie.

We are constantly reminded by anyone whose path she crossed that she always left ‎an impression of kindness, compassion and of course - good advice.
Mom was never without her signature red lipstick and welcoming smile to all she met, and it was indisputably evident that she lived her life by the same credo and standard that her mother taught her: Always do your best.

Above all else Jeannie was the constant in our family's life. She was unwavering in her no-questions-asked support at any time, and in any circumstance. Jeannie put her family first and we always put Jeannie first. She rather liked it that way; and her finest and proudest moments were those spent with her family. Indeed she was referred to by many as the 'Queen Mum' - indeed she lived up to that image.

We miss you and love you so very much mom.

Thank you for giving us your all. (centered, bold script please)

In lieu of flowers donations would be appreciated to Wounded Warriors Canada -woundedwarriors.ca.

My deepest condolences on the passing of the wonderful Jeannie. I had the pleasure of working with Jeannie for many years at the YWCA about 15 years ago. I have never forgotten her and I am so sorry for your loss.
She was a wonderful lady, full of life, laughs, and stories. - Elsie

To Frances, Grant and the rest of Jeannie's family, I share your loss. Jeannie was my co-worker, teacher, mentor and friend during our years working at the YWCA. After leaving the YWCA, our friendship continued over these years and extended to my family including my husband, whom she lovingly called "Friday night". She was a wonderful lady and I will remember her stories and our "talks" on her birthdays. Rest in peace, my dear!

I am so sorry to hear of Jeannie's passing. Hers was always the warm voice that greeted me when I called the YW to speak with my mother, Fay, and our conversation always brightened my day. Even after my mom retired from the YWCA, I would ask "has Jeannie retired yet"? Inevitable, the answer was no. I feel blessed to have had her as a part of my life.

We shared a passion for shoes, and used to joke about becoming "older and wiser" but having to give up funky shoes for boring orthotics. She nicknamed me "yellow shoes" for a very stinking pair I had on the day we met and often looked at my feet before she looked at my face... her reason was that my shoes were more interesting! Oh, but I loved her sense of humor and her free spirit at speaking her mind. She was so refreshing to work with and so much fun to have around. I am so happy to have crossed paths with her and will treasure all her words of wisdom. She will be missed!
