In memory of

Jean Kolodzie

May 31, 1941 -  December 8, 2019

Jean Kolodzie passed away peacefully in her sleep December 8, 2019, at the age of 78.

She was born May 31, 1941, in Kirkland Lake, Ontario to Stephen and Aniella Podsiadlo. She was married to Edward Kolodzie of Oshawa in October 1965 who preceded her in death in 1997.

Jean was the loving mother of Nancy and Matthew (wife Leslie), and proud grandmother of Kailey and Rhys. Jean is survived by her two sisters, Irene Cypta and Helen Farrell, whom she shared a special bond with throughout her life, and by nieces, nephews, extended family and lifetime friends who will miss her dearly.

Jean worked as an X-Ray technologist in Kirkland Lake, Oshawa and Toronto. She was passionate about her career and helping people. In retirement, Jean continued her passion as a caregiver, volunteering her time with many community organizations such as St. Joseph’s Hospital, the Centennial Park Conservatory, the Montgomery Inn, Islington Seniors Centre, and the Daughters of Isabella. She enjoyed being with and caring for others more than anything.

Jean loved music. She was an accomplished piano player, a member of the Sweet Adelines choir group, and someone who simply found joy in listening to classical music and attending live concerts.

Please join us in celebrating Jean’s life on Saturday December 14 at the Thorton Funeral Centre. Visitation begins at 10am, funeral service at 11am, followed by a reception.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations made to The Family Navigation Project at Sunnybrook Hospital. https://donate.sunnybrook.ca/fnp
