Jean Marie (Jeannie) surrounded by her loving family passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of March 24, 2017.

She was born March 19th 1939 in Northern Ireland to her parents, Jack and Jean Power. She was a vibrant woman with an incredible artistic talent, and someone who could connect with others in a very individual and spiritual way.

Jean Marie traveled and studied the world and reflected her knowledge and experiences in her artwork. Traveling and living in countries such as Italy, Greece, France, England, Ireland, China, Thailand, Egypt, Cypress, and Saudi Arabia. These opportunities opened the door to new works strongly influenced by history and world culture, resulting in the creation of many collections of jewelry, sculpture and textiles for Toronto's Royal Ontario Museum and the Musée des Beaux-Arts, Montreal.

She was a devoted wife married 56 years, an unbelievably caring mother and grandmother, and a remarkable friend. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and the art community.

She is survived by her beloved husband Alan, daughter Sheelagh, sons Michael and David, grandchildren, Taylor, Samantha, William, Benjamin, Jennifer-Robin, Emma, Tiana, and Erik. As well as her son-in-law Kevin, and daughters-in-law Janice and Jelena.

Visitations will be taking place at Elgin Mills Funeral Home, 1591 Elgin Mills Road East, Richmond Hill, Ontario on Thursday, March 30th at 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm.
