After a short but fierce battle with leukemia, Jason finally rested in the early morning on May 10, 2024.
Jason will be missed by his boys, Quin and Morgan. They will remember their “hockey Dad” for endless hours at the arena, either on the bench or in the stands. He would willingly bundle up at any ODR for a chance to shoot the puck with his sons. That willingness extended to tossing the football on the street, pitching a ball at the school yard or doing math problems, despite the tears of protest! Anything for his boys.
Paula, his wife, will miss a partner in parenting and a partner in life. She will remember his indulgences and his frequent, sincere refrain, “Anything you want!” She will miss being told she is “unbelievably beautiful” while wearing ripped jeans and a T-shirt. But she will remember a lifetime of campfires and wine on the back deck.
Jason leaves behind an entire family who can take credit for making a wonderful man; his mom and step-dad (Irene and Ron Rimnak), his father (Fred Kennedy), his sister Jen Pieon (Andrew), his brother Chris Rimnyak (Kaitlyn) and a whole fruit basket of aunts and cousins, as well as nieces and nephews, Emilia, Grace, Everett, Addison and Damon.
The family would like to thank the staff at Princess Margaret Hospital and Michael Garron Hospital, including Dr. Andreou who began this fight, but also all the nurses, doctors and palliative team who continued it.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating blood, plasma or stem cells through Canadian Blood Services (Blood.ca). Financial donations can be made to Michael Garron Hospital.
