In memory of

James Pascaris

February 18, 1924 -  July 20, 2017

James (Jimmy) Pascaris passed away peacefully on July 20th at the age of 93. Married for 63 wonderful years to Anita Pascaris (1925 – 2014), loving father to Jerome, Alysia, and Anthea, and doting “Dedo" to Nikka, Aviva, Dayla, Zale, and Zephyr.

Born in Kratero Greece, Jimmy spent his childhood years in the mountains of northern Greece before alighting at Ellis Island and making his way to Toronto in 1938 to join the booming community of Greek-Canadians.

At the age of 17, he volunteered for the Canadian Armed Forces. In 1944 he joined the 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion, serving honorably in the Ardenne and participating in Operation Varsity, the first allied incursion into Germany on March 24th 1945. He was promoted to Lance Corporal.

After the Second World War, Jimmy became a successful chartered accountant, much admired and widely-respected for his integrity, his hard-work, and his generous smile.

Healthy his whole life – Jimmy entered hospital for the first time just 2 weeks before he passed away – Jimmy led a charmed life. From shepherd, to war hero, to devoted husband, respected professional, and adoring parent and grandfather, Jimmy was indeed a man for all time.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt “Thank You” to Josephine and Kristina for their love and care of our father during these last 2 years; to Sunnybrook K Wing staff for their special care and attention; and to Brian “Laski” for always being there.

A visitation will be held at the Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre (375 Mount Pleasant Road (416) 485 5572 east gate entrance) on Saturday July 22nd, 2017 from 11am-12pm followed by a Funeral Service in the Chapel at 12pm. Interment to follow. In memory of James donations to Sunnybrook’s Veteran’s Grant a Wish Program would be appreciated by the family. For online condolences please visit www.etouch.ca

Our deepest sympathy to your family. Jim and I go back many years. We first meet in 1948 on a visit to Toronto, and have many wonderful discussions on many subjects. He will be missed.

So sorry for your loss. I feel like a member of my family passed, as I felt with Anita. Wish I was there with you all. My love and thoughts are with you. I will tell mom, she will in the moment...be very upset. Steph

My deepest condolences to your whole family. I remember Jimmy well. Although I haven't seen him for many years, he left such a strong impression of intelligence, warmth and kindness. I am glad to have had him touch my life, if only briefly.
I wish you all the most wonderful memories. I know you will miss him greatly.

It was truely a pleasure to see Jimmy (and Anita) every time they came into the restaurant. Jimmy's genuine smile and warm greetings made my days at work much more pleasurable. I consider myself lucky and privileged to have known him. I send my deepest condolences to his children. Jimmy, you will be missed.
