I will always remember the little talks we had over the years, ever since I was a young child. He was an encyclopedia of wisdom and knowledge. Furthermore, he exuded confidence, charm, and had no difficulty making someone laugh when the opportunity arose.
There will only ever be one James Carvel Briand.

I am saddened & taken aback to learn of Carvel's sudden passing at age 69.
For most of eighteen years, while our kids (Carvel's second family with Karen) were growing up in East York, Carvel was part of a tapestry depicting some very happy times. Warm memories about many of the families in the original baby-sitting co-op; attending plays performed by the East Side Players at the Todmorden Mills Theatre; post-theatre night libations & refreshments; A memorable murder mystery dinner hosted by Karen & Carvel; sharing coffees with Carvel while the boys played hockey at East York arena; watching him eat a hot dog for dinner at Stan Wadlow Park in baseball season. Happy & good times to remember & appreciate. I do.
RIP Carvel.
