James Anthony Boyko

October 4, 1943 -  January 26, 2021

James Anthony Boyko BCom., CPA CA, CFP

Loving husband for 53 years to Marti, proud tat to Mark (Laura) and Tom (Nevena), caring dido to Holland, Ella, Tasha, Aleksandra and Stefan, dear brother to Shirley (John), and uncle to Allison (Nick), Angela (Jonah) and Danielle.

Jim passed away peacefully after a short battle with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (complications due to pneumonia). Son of Tony and Anne Boyko, Jim grew up in Windsor, Ontario. He attended the University of Windsor where he received his bachelor’s degree of Commerce in 1967. Shortly after his graduation he began his life with Marti, marrying on November 4th, 1967.

Jim became a Chartered Accountant in 1970. He started his career at Clarkson Gordon in Windsor (now Ernst and Young). After moving to Toronto, he made partner and remained with the firm until 1995 when he partnered with Laird Elliott and eventually transitioned to his own practice. Jim was active in his community, where many organizations benefitted from his involvement and leadership. He was the founding President (1979) of the Scarborough Estate and Financial Planning Council. He made many friends at the Rotary Club of North Scarborough where he was a long-standing member, a past President and their “Oracle of Scarborough,” giving his yearly predictions for over 20 years. Jim was also involved at the Rouge Valley Hospital Foundation where he was a Board Member from 2007 to 2017.

For over 30 years Jim was a member of the Scarborough Golf and Country Club where he was President from 1993 - 1995, and where he spent many wonderful hours socializing, networking and playing 100’s of rounds of golf. Not only did Jim love playing golf, he also appreciated a fine wine, socializing with his friends and loved spending time with his family where he could always be seen with a camera in his hand. After a wonderful 25th Wedding Anniversary trip with their sons, Jim and Marti caught the travel bug, exploring many exciting destinations over the years. His family will miss him dearly.

A private graveside service and interment will take place at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. A larger celebration of Jim’s life will be announced once it is safe to gather again. We would like to acknowledge the incredible warmth and kind support from caring friends and family. In lieu of flowers a donation to the Rotary Club of North Scarborough, www.northscarboroughrotary.org or to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada, www.llscanada.org would be appreciated.
