It is with extreme sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Officer Cadet (OCdt) Isaac Reis, age 22, on October 1, 2024. He was a passionate, tender, kind, generous, loving son, brother, nephew and friend, who will be missed by many.
Isaac lived his life to the fullest filling his life with many hobbies: bodybuilding, swimming, martial arts, biking, running, hiking, fishing, playing the piano and clarinet, and spending time with his family and friends. He was a car enthusiast (especially vintage cars) and had a fascination with trains, airplanes and boats. Isaac also enjoyed playing online video games with his friends.
Isaac was compassionate and dedicated to serving his career in the military. He joined the 166 Bulldog Air Cadets Squadron at age 12 and took on his role with much dedication and compassion and immediately decided he would dedicate his career to serving in the military. He was an excellent role model to other cadets.
Isaac was in his 4th year at the Royal Military College of Canada in Kingston, Ontario. He was studying Military and Strategic Studies and was in training to be an Artillery Officer. He was incredibly passionate and driven towards excellence within his military profession. As a historical drill enthusiast, he re-invigorated a decades old tradition of the 1876 Drill Demonstration Team. He also held prestigious positions within the College Colour Party and the Commander of the Drill Team. When not reading about military history, Isaac was a peer-leader within the Sentinel and Resilience Plus programs. He spent countless hours supporting other people within the Cadet Wing.
Isaac’s faith was an important part of his life, he grew up attending Bayview Glen Church regularly in Toronto where he was an active member and volunteered as a group leader for summer camps. He was also fond of attending church in Kingston with his friends.
He will be forever remembered by his mother, May Wan-Reis, his wonderful sisters, Ari and Nicole, his maternal grandfather; his doting Aunts: Mary, Jennie, Annie, Enid, Helen, Margaret and Uncles: Peter and Rex. And many extended cousins and family members. He was predeceased by his father, Mario Reis.
"The Lord is close to the broken hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." Psalm 34:18
"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." Isaiah 41:10
REMEMBER ME - (a poem by Margaret Mead)
To the living, I am gone.
To the sorrowful, I will never return.
To the angry, I was cheated,
But to the happy, I am at peace,
And to the faithful, I have never left.
I cannot be seen, but I can be heard.
So as you stand upon a shore, gazing at a beautiful sea – remember me.
As you look in awe at a mighty forest and its grand majesty – remember me.
As you look upon a flower and admire its simplicity – remember me.
