In memory of

Irene Chong

May 22, 1970 -  October 30, 2022

If there ever comes a day when we can't be together, keep me in your heart. I'll stay there forever. - A. A. Milne

Irene Chong, 52, was born on May 22, 1970 in Toronto, Ontario and passed peacefully with family by her side on October 30, 2022 in Toronto, Ontario.

Irene was predeceased by her parents, Jack Chong and Joyce Chong and grandparents. She is survived by her sons Joshua and Riley; siblings Shannon, William and Diane; nephew Adam, niece Samantha; aunts, uncles, cousins from New York, cousins and second cousins.

We will remember Irene’s beautiful smile, feisty spirit, big open heart and resilience. Irene made friends wherever she went, loved and cared about everyone in her life and was always there for us. Irene was the best of all of us. She was the life of the party and social butterfly, filling the room with her energy, good nature and humor. She had a busy home life with her boys who were the joy and light of her life, spending time with friends and family, travel (especially Hawaii) and a career she loved.

She will be greatly missed by her beautiful and loving sons Joshua and Riley, family, friends and coworkers. We love you, Irene.

The family wishes to express their thanks to Paul Chung; Irene’s therapists; the healthcare professionals and teams who cared for her at Mount Sinai, Sunnybrook, Toronto General and Michael Garron Hospitals, Providence Health Care and the Aphasia Institute.

Services will be held at Pine Hills Cemetery & Funeral Centre on Sunday, November 6, 2022 starting at 10:00am. Donations can be made to the Aphasia Institute, Lupus Canada and Heart & Stroke Canada.

Irene. I miss you so much. You did so much for me, I think you’ll never really know. You were the ideal in every way; mother, daughter, sister, friend. I am so happy and a lucky to have met you. You told the best stories with the best delivery. You gave the best advice, really listened, and were really selfless that way. Joking around with you left my stomach in knots from endless laughter. So much happiness that you brought to so many lives. I will always think of you as a sister, I looked up to you. This is truly a loss in our worlds. I pray for your boys and the family. You were a strong light Irene and I hope, even though far too soon, you are at rest. Never was and never will be another you Irene, until we meet again…
