In memory of

Ingeborg Martha Ploeger

July 4, 1927 -  September 28, 2022

Ingeborg “Inge” Martha Ploeger (nee Perl) (July 4, 1927- September 28, 2022)

“Go Where Love Goes”

Inge (Mom) passed away peacefully on September 28, 2022, in her 96th year. Affectionately known as “Omi” to her extended family and friends, she will be lovingly remembered by her children Frank (Pauline) of Virginiatown, Ontario and Steven (Gabrielle) of Toronto, Ontario. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Jennifer, Jason (Lisa), Rebecca, Kate (Adrian) Bloy and Spencer and great grandmother to Emma, Mika, Anthony, Chloe, and Remington.

She was predeceased by her mother Martha Perl (nee Winkler) and her father Karl Perl as well as her brother Gunther, and her sisters Marianne and Christa and is survived by her youngest sister Alice in Germany. Inge was born in Finsterwalde (East) Germany on July 4, 1927, escaped to West Germany in 1951 and finally emigrated to Canada in 1953. From her teenage years in Germany, her early years in Canada and throughout her life she maintained a strong work ethic with progressively more fulfilling employment with Parker Pen, and finally, as Secretary Treasurer for Maersk Canada. Following her retirement, she continued to keep herself busy with many endeavours including travel and serving as a tour guide for visiting German tourists.

Inge really found her passion through her volunteer work.

Her commitment to community service was recognized by the City of Toronto where she was honoured on multiple occasions with a community service award for her work managing the Older Adults Euchre, Cribbage and Bridge Club at the Broadlands Community Centre in Don Mills. Other volunteer work included helping seniors in local long term care homes and using her knitting talent to make baby caps, blankets and booties for infants in neonatal care at several local hospitals.

Her door was always open to family and friends, and she will be sadly missed. Many thanks to the staff at Scarborough Health Network (McNicoll Campus), Scarborough Grace Hospital, Bayshore Health Care, The Freeman Centre, Dr. Rahim Abdulhussein and the Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre for their loving, kind and compassionate care.

As per Inge’s wishes, a small private family visitation will be held at the Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre. Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life to be held at Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre, 375 Mount Pleasant Road, Toronto, Ontario, M4T 2V8 on Saturday, November 19, 2022 (4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.)

If desired, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to one of Inge’s favourite charities - the Children’s Make-A-Wish Foundation at https://makeawish.ca, or a charity of your choice.

Rest in peace Inge. Always a pleasure to work with you and also enjoying the many fun times we had. Will never forget when you took me to meet your family in northern Ontario, and fishing, looking at bears and looking for minerals. I learned a lot! Condolences to the entire family; I know the joy and pride they gave you and I am sure you were the best Oma there ever was. Love, Kurt Andersen
