May 19, 1944 - April 8, 2025

KOVACS, Ilona (Helen) (nee Suralik) - Died peacefully at home on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, in her 81st year. Born in Budapest, Hungary on May 19, 1944, and came to Canada in 1969. A beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Ilona is survived by her loving husband of 59 years Kalman (Karl), beloved son Gabor (Gabe), daughter-in-law Margaret (Oakville, ON), cherished granddaughters Katherine and Sophie, sister Margit, brother Jeno (Budapest, Hungary), sister-in-law Maria Fogarasi, nieces Nancy (Rob), Edina, their children, several nieces and nephews in Hungary. Ilona was a kind, generous, and loving lady. She embraced the love of her family and her many friends. Ilona loved flowers, gardening, cooking, and gathering with friends and family. Cremation has taken place. Friends are invited to join the family at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church, 432 Sheppard Ave E., North York, ON, M2N 3B7, on Friday, April 25, 2025. A Mass will be held at 1 pm, with a reception in the church hall. A private Rite of Committal will take place at a later date. The family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St Elizabeth Church of Hungary Parish.
