It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Ilija Aleksic. He passed peacefully on Monday, February 14, 2022 surrounded by his family.

Ilija was born in Naudovac, Yugoslavia in 1931 to Mile (predeceased 1944) and Dragica (predeceased 1993). He made his lifelong dream a reality in 1968 when he came to Canada with his wife and son to forge a better life. As he made Toronto his home, he enjoyed the outdoors; making many trips to the far reaches of Northern Ontario, fishing with family and friends, and spending his summers at the cottage with his grandchildren. He was a staple on Fairview Blvd. where he looked forward to welcoming the neighbourhood kids with a warm smile and a joke on their way to and from school.

Ilija was a loving husband to Bogdanka for 66 wonderful years, a treasured father to Zeljko and loving father-in-law to Liliana. He was a proud Dedo to Michael (Elizabeth) and Alexander (Emma) who think the world of him. Ilija was a man of integrity, hard work, great kindness and joy. He will be sadly missed and forever held in the hearts of his family and friends
