Ianthe Elaine Sealy
January 4, 1928 - March 24, 2025
It is with profound sadness and with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our beautiful mother Ianthe, in her 97th year at Lakeridge Gardens Ajax, Ontario.
Ianthe was the beloved wife of the late Darnley Sealy (1996).
She was a proud and loving mother and will be deeply missed by her children, Cicely, Denise, Lorraine (Walter), Basil (Wendy), and Sandra, Mary (predeceased), Anderson (predeceased).
Cherished Granny, Great Granny and Great Great Granny to Paul, Regan, Anthea, Shondell, Tammy, Dale, Myra, Mark, Wayne, Julie, Shannon (Delane), Jordan, Brittney (Matt), Terrin, Rochelle, Jalen, Jala, Jacob, Tasha, Mackie (predeceased), Lisa (predeceased), Ryan (predeceased).
She is a cherished Auntie to many nieces and nephews.
Ianthe is survived by her sisters, Patricia Daniel, Ruby Marshall and Cynthia Jackman (Barbados), and brother Roy Wood (USA).
She has been reunited in peace with her sister Sylverton Olutayo (predeceased), and brother, Shirley Hackett (predeceased).
She loved her family and friends, and was always the happiest when surrounded by everyone. She enjoyed her church family, was a devoted member of the Chance Guild and a side person. We will treasure the legacy of her gentle spirit, and warm hospitality.
Ianthe will be forever in our hearts.
The family will receive visitors, from 1:00pm-5:00pm on Sunday April 6, 2025 at
Thornton Cemetery, Cremation and Funeral Centre, 1200 Thornton Road North, Oshawa, ON.
Funeral Service will be held Monday April 7, 2025 at St Thomas Anglican Church, 101 Winchester Road, Brooklin (Whitby), ON, with a visitation commencing at 10:00am, immediately followed by the service at 11:00am.
Please join us in the parish reception hall after the service.
Cremation Interment at St. Paul’s Anglican Cemetery, 3325 Thornton Road North, Oshawa, ON will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in memory of Ianthe Sealy to the Ajax Pickering Hospital Foundation, to fund Lakeridge Gardens (Long-term Care Home).
