With great sorrow and bittersweet gratitude, the Kim and Yun families announce the passing of Hwa Ran Yun on March 19,2023. Hwa Ran Kim was kind, brave, caring and unimaginably generous wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Born in North Korea on Oct 12, 1942, Hwa Ran was an infant when she and her family escape North Korea to South Korea due to pending Korean War . As a child she aspired to be an Opera Singer, her dream was not realized but she contributed her beautiful voice in the church choir. She immigrated to Canada in 1974 with her family, husband Chang Duck Kim and her 3 children, Miyeon Mia Kim, Soo Yeon Kim and Jae won Mike kim.

Hwa Ran was preceded in death by her mother Yun Hee Jang , her father Dr. Byung Ha Yun and her son Jae Won Mike Kim.

Hwa ran is survived by her husband Chang Duck Kim, daughter Miyeon Mia Kim and her husband Cheong Meng Felix Ko, daughter Soo Yeon Kim and her husband Gary Kirk, grandsons Dr. Alexander Ko, Dr. Andrew Ko and Liam Kirk, her Brothers Douk Jo Yun and Douk-Hong Yun, and her sisters Hwa- Sil Yun and Hwa San yun.



Please join us celebrating her life Tuesday morning April 4, 2023, at 10am at St. Timothy Presbyterian church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bethell Hospice whose incredible nurses, doctors and volunteer staff consistently went above and beyond to make her final days and weeks peaceful and comfortable.
