In memory of

Bryan Langford Howe

April 26, 1926 -  April 5, 2019

Bryan Langford Howe
April 26, 1926 - April 5, 2019

Peacefully, surrounded by love, Bryan L Howe passed away on April 5, just 3 weeks short of his 93rd birthday. A resilient polio survivor, devoted son, proud Navy man, loving husband, patient father, Poppa, Great Poppa, “GUB”, 40 year Ontario Hydro man, favourite uncle, studious nature lover, woodworker extraordinaire, wise teacher - he couldn’t have asked for a more complete and fulfilling life.

Bryan was predeceased by his dear wife Winifred (Bowers - 1989) and his parents Thomas (1979) and Phyllis (1997). He leaves his loving and devoted wife Ilka, daughters Deborah Meyer (Gord), Lisa Martin (Adrian), Louise Martinheira, nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and his sisters Joan Tibbles (Bruce - 2018) and Martha Jane Trimble (John).

Bryan’s strength came from his amazing positive attitude - he got going early every day and kept at it ‘til bedtime. Who needs the gym? He was gentle, caring and genuinely interested in everyone he came in contact with. We all carry a big part of him in our hearts.

Donations made to the Canadian Wildlife Federation in Bryan’s memory are welcome. Or plant a tree.

A Celebration of Bryan’s Life will take place on the afternoon of April 26 - details to be confirmed.

Bryan and Win were the first and most dear friends that my mother made upon her arrival in Canada in 1953, when I was just two.

I have very fond memories of childhood visits with them and am grateful for my continuing friendship with their daughter Deborah.

Bryan was a kind and gentle man. He always made me feel cared for and loved. He was a talented and interesting man too

His legacy lives on in his wonderful family and I send them my love at this sad time X

Bryan was such a wonderful soul and beacon of light and hope in the lives of everyone who was blessed to have know him. We love you all very much and are praying for a spirit of peace to settle in your hearts as you journey through the next few months and years without him.
