In memory of

Hope Paliare

June 14, 1920 -  October 10, 2017

Hope Paliare- (1920-2017) Peacefully in her 98th year, on October 10, 2017. Born in Toronto to Macedonian parents (Oshima) in 1920, she managed to outlive her husband, all of her siblings, friends, and sadly, her beloved daughter Faith Croxon (Noel) who also predeceased her.
Hope and her husband Norm lovingly fed generations of Danforth Tech students and teachers at their restaurant, the Normandy. She spent her life from a very early age caring for others, whether family, friends or strangers. Hope had no shortage of love for all who came within her sphere. Even in her later years when life became more difficult, she maintained her perpetual good disposition and warm smile.
She will be missed by her son Chris (Eva Marszewski) and her two precious granddaughters, whom she loved so dearly, Zoe (Adam Delva) and Julia as well as by many nieces and nephews.
We thank Hope’s dedicated caregivers, Zenaida Malunao, Arlene Quinbot, and Mercy Evicner who assisted her so ably and with love and attention throughout these last 5 years. Dr. Russell Goldman from the Temmy Latner Palliative Centre was invaluable in the last week of her life. We also thank the staff at Delmanor for her care, especially Brenda Martin, RN. Friends may visit at the Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre 375 Mount Pleasant Road (east gate entrance) on Thursday, October 12 from 6-9 pm. Funeral Service in the chapel on Friday, October 13 at 10:30 am, followed by interment in the cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Canadian Macedonian Place Foundation at www.canadianmacedonianplace.com/foundation/

As a long-ago former neighbour, I remember Hope as the rock of the next-door family. She was a force for good and, as her name implied, provided solid guidance for future success. My sincere condolences to family and friends in their loss of Hope - a life well lived.
