In memory of

Hoc Dao Tran

July 11, 1955 -  March 28, 2022

Tran, Hoc Dao (66) passed away on the 28th of March 2022 at Michael Garron Hospital in Toronto, Ontario Canada surrounded by his family. Dao was born in Vietnam on July 11th 1955 and immigrated to Canada on July of 1984 with his wife and 3 daughters. Dao became a grandfather in his forties and was always so excited for the weekends when his daughters and his grandkids visited him. He was an artist and loved to decorate his home with things that he thought his grandkids would enjoy and that made him happy. He was a talented artist and could fix a car, bake a cake and build a shelf. He apprenticed under a French baker and knew his way around a kitchen. He was a Jack of all trades. He lived his life the way he wanted and did things his way. He taught his daughters all kinds of music, especially the good ones! Dao was always young at heart. He was so cool and so chill. He got along with all his nieces and nephews. Dao was a girl dad. He was a generous, carefree, happy, full of life kind of guy. He always made sure the people around him laughed and smiled. Dao is survived by his 3 daughters, Cindy, Khanh and Trinh. His ex-wife who is the love of his life, Pha. As well as his 9 grandkids, Sean (24) Aaliyah (20) Aydin (18) Trevin (16) Sadie (12) Jillian (12) Avery (10) Elly (8) and Riley (6) and his 3 son-in-laws, David, Richard and Mark. Dao is also survived by his many brothers and sisters and many nieces and nephews. We are going to miss him dearly.

Thank you for being the best dad and grandpa to all of us…wish we had more time with you. Life is fleeting but love is eternal. I won’t be afraid when it’s my time because I know you’ll be there calling my name “Boon! What the hell are you doing here? Oh shit” and “Don’t worry daddy is here”. I love you forever Ba.

My heart is broken. I can’t imagine life without you in it. I thought you were going to be with us for at least another 20 years. I’m grateful that I was able to spend time with you during your last days. I hope I’ve made you proud. Don’t worry about us. Just wait for us. We’ll meet again. I love you Ba.

I love you grandpa. Such a sweet and genuine soul. I’ll never forget the hospitality you provided for all of your kids and grandkids every Saturday that we’d come see you. Through every cake for everyone’s birthday, the groceries you consistently gave us, and the toys and seasonal decorations you always had and was always so proud to show off, it’s hard to really put into words how much I miss you and appreciated those gestures to make sure everyone was alright. I miss you grandpa and
I’ll see you soon.

Love you grandpa…. Your spirit lives through everything we do. I’ll cherish the guitar you gave me and master it.

Hi grandpa! When I see you again, it'll be on a Saturday evening with the family and you'll drag me by the arm to show me your new holiday display on your toy shelf. And then you'll hand me three packs of gum and lindor, and they'll sit in my jacket pocket for weeks. I know you're chilling right now, the way you always are. Or baking a cake. It doesn't matter, I love everything you do. Thank you for being the best grandpa I, and the rest of your grandkids, could ask for. I miss and love you.
