In memory of

Henryk Pilakowski

March 31, 1923 -  July 23, 2016

It is with heavy hearts we announce dad's passing. At 93 years old he had great perseverance until his heart and lungs finally had enough. He died peacefully at Ajax-Pickering Hospital this morning, July 23, 2016, and is now forever young and together with mom. Born in Ostrowieczno Poland, he was a World War II Veteran. His military career took him through Europe, forced to fight for the Germans, he escape and sought POW status with the Americans, had an audience with the Pope and then ultimately enlisted with the British. He was decommissioned in England where he met his late wife of 60 years, Doris. They began their life together which brought them to Canada in 1953. He retired from the City of Metropolitan Toronto as Chief Works Supervisor Water Filtration. We will miss him terribly. The best father ever to Janine (Mike), Michael (Nancy), he was very proud of his grandsons Graydon (Stephanie), Shane, Erik and Jason. He leaves behind his surviving brother Wincenty Pilakowski in Wejherowo Poland, and his family both there and in Canada as well in England and Wales. A private family gathering will be held with cremation to follow. Donations to Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Fund https://www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/royal-canadian-legion-branch-poppy-fund/
