In memory of

Henrique De Jesus Martinho

May 19, 1952 -  September 13, 2022

Henrique De Jesus Martinho, 70, of Tottenham, ON passed away on September 13, 2022, with his wife Ana by his side until his last breath.
Henrique was born on May 19, 1952, to Albino Martinho and Marculina De Jesus Martinho in Ribafria, Portugal. At the age of 11 months his mother had passed away. His oldest sister Rosa along with his other siblings Inocencio, Manuel and Mariana stepped up to help raise him. Along the way he spent time with his Uncle Silvano.
At the age of 15 he came to Canada with his father to have a better life. He worked side by side his father in building the cement towers at the nuclear plant in Bowmanville, ON. Which was a start to his career.
In 1972, Henrique married Ana. Henrique met Ana in Toronto, ON. Henrique was the supervisor for the cleaning crew for the building. Little did he know his future mother-in-law Maria Viveiros was one of the workers. Maria brought her daughter Ana to work one day and low and behold love at first sight. Henrique and Ana went on to have 3 children, Juvenal, Florentino and Natercia.
In 2002, Henrique opened his own construction company, after working in construction since the age of 17. He had learned a lot over the years. Alongside him his son Florentino worked with him for many years and his daughter and grandson these past few years.
In July 2022, Henrique finally decided that retirement was best due to health issues and off he went to his favourite place, back home to the town where he was born as he would every year along with his wife. One of Henriques dream was to show his grandchildren where he was from, and that dream came true. His daughter (Natercia), daughter in-law (Christine) and his two grandchildren (Thomas and Ariana) came to fulfill that dream.
Henrique was a kind, generous, and very smart man who loved his family very much.
Henrique is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Ana ; three children, Florentino, Natercia and Christine (Daughter in-law); two grandchildren Thomas and Ariana along with many adored nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his son Juvenal, brother Inocencio and his parents Albino and Marculina and countless other loved ones.
In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Lung Association of Ontario and/or The Heart and Stroke Foundation.
