In memory of

Henrietta Carolina Gabriel

April 2, 1934 -  May 31, 2019

Known lovingly as “Aunt Hen” to family & friends, she was born Henrietta Carolina Gabriel April 2nd, 1934 in Carriacou, Grenada. Immigrated to Trinidad and finally to Canada in1958 to care for the Morrison Family. She cherished her life with the Morrisons’ and often retold the many tales of her time there. Being the strong, independent woman that she was, Aunt Hen pursued her education and had a long lasting career at CBC. During this time, she became the matriarch of the Gabriel Family, sponsoring family to start a life in Canada. Without Aunt Hen, many of her nieces, nephews, grand-nieces & nephews would not be here today.

After she retired from CBC, Aunt Hen returned to her original labour of love as the resident nanny (Hennie), babysitting children in her neighbourhood, cherishing and loving them as her own. Known for making soups, salads and sweet bread for neighbours & families; going on daily walks for her ‘papers’ and neighbourly greetings, made her an iconic figure in her community.

You could always count on Aunt Hen to always have a sweet treat in her pocket (dinner mints) and proudly introduce her nieces, nephews and grands to friends she met along the way.

Surviving Aunt Hen are her siblings & their family: Uncle Winston, Aunt Daphne, Auntie Ermine, Uncle Alston, Uncle Cecil, Uncle Victor and Aunt Virginia.

We Love you Aunt Hen
