In memory of

Helen Conidis

December 27, 1918 -  June 26, 2020

We are deeply saddened to announce that our exceptionally loving matriarch passed away peacefully, at home, on June 26, 2020, at 101 years young at heart.

Eleni Konidis (nee Masoura) was born to Efthimia and Konstantinos Masoura in 1918 in Potamia,  Lakonia, Greece.

Eleni lived the immigrant experience of hardship, sacrifice and resilience. Her husband, Christos, emigrated from Greece to Canada in 1956. Eleni followed with their five children in 1959. Widowed at 47 with 5 children, she embraced them even harder and guided them to be honest and hard working men and women.

She was strong, honest, fair, humble, wise, respectful, fiercely devoted, generous, kind, compassionate, creative, playful, funny and curious. She wove beauty and χαρα - joy- into everything she touched. She gave her everything and took nothing.

In her later decades she crocheted and knitted many hundreds of pieces that are being enjoyed by family and friends in Canada, USA , Greece and maybe elsewhere.

She is predeceased by her husband Christos (1966), her daughter Katina (1948), her daughter-in-law Kori (2013), and her son George (2017). She had lost also brothers Christo, Sotiri, Efthimio, Panagioti and Aristidi and sister Evgeniki.

Left to honour her are: her children, Elias (Toula), Dimitri (Tula), Efthimia (Angelo) and Despina. Her grandchildren, Chris (Francesca), Helen, George, Chris (Chrissy), Chris (Joanna), George (Aida), Katerina (Jamin), Anastasia (Brian). Her great grandchildren, Alyssa, Karina, Adam, Zachary, James and Brooke.
Eleni is lovingly remembered by her brother, Dimitri, her many cousins, nephews and nieces and family friends in Canada, Greece and the U.S.

It is difficult to express how tremendously she loved us, and we her - we will miss her dearly. We love you and thank you for showing us the meaning and purpose of our lives, Yiayia mas.
REST IN PEACE

If desired, donations can be made to Canadian Feed the Children, in Eleni’s memory, at www.canadianfeedthechildren.ca, the charity close to her heart.
